In his own words –“Photography has been my hobby, though my background was technical. My association with photography is more than sixty years old. My Fisrt entry in an All India Exhibition was in the year 1950, in Bombay. One of my pictures received A Certificate of Merit. This sounds like a bell to disclose my age. I have just crossed 86. Still active enough to pursue my hobby. I, on my own, visited the hills during winter (mid February, 2009) to shoot. The main attraction being the snow, I covered Mussouri Dhanolti & Chamba. Dhanolti height is 8000 ft. and min. temperature that time was 1 oC. I love to flirt with nature and its many moods. In my long spell of photography, I had been a member of the Federation of Indian Photography for many years. At one time I served as a critic, to write merits and demerits of pictures submitted by the up-coming members. In 1960, I was awarded an Artist Federation International de-la ART Photographique (AFIAP) from the International Federation of Photography, then based in Switzerland. I worked with Tata Steel at Jamshedpur. I founded the Bihar Photographic Society there and remained its President for 15 years. We used to have biennial All India Exhibitions. I was on the panel of judges as well. I have regularly participated in all India exhibitions and photo contests and some of my photographs were highly acclaimed. I have a flair for writing as well. My articles with pictures have been published in dailies and well known magazines. Even a well known photography magazine “Amateur Photographer” in London, published my pictures with texts, not once but four times. In April 2008, I had my solo exhibition at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, where I showcased 55 works. I still use films, and started with a roll cord camera. Now I am using an Olympus 35 mm with wide angle and Tele lenses. Make the best of what you have, is my motto. Even today, in my ripe age, photography remains a coveted part of my lifestyle.”
