Having travelled extensively, from the Hamiltons up to Iceland, Rashi was never allowed to hold the camera, the photographs she was told, were always blurred. Today they still are, but, when questioned, she answered back with a grin,
Why change something I perfected as a child?
She experiments even after an image seems complete. My photographs, Rashi says, are seductive and capture texture and physical reality. It transforms an ordinary scene into a multiple view.
Poetry without words, such is the relationship between the positive and the negative, both hold their own, but together; form the fort that withstands all. That is the essence of Rashi work. Whilst completing her BA in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, U.K., she developed her own unique signature. Through a culmination of styles, including long exposures, Solarization, Liquid Emulsion process and Pinhole Photography, she makes her statement.
