Rana Dasgupta was born in England in 1971 and moved to Delhi in 2000. He is the author of two award-winning novels, Tokyo Cancelled and Solo.
Both these books were set in cities he did not know. When he set out to discover those cities, his first explorations were with the camera. His Carbon photographs are the record of those initial encounters. They are images of surface, of the unknown skin of strange places. They bear witness to the connection that can exist between a person and a new city.
